Lakmuthu Studio is the independent software service practice of Kaveen Lakmuthu.
This Service Policy explains how project inquiries, quotes, development work, payments, revisions, handover, and support are handled.
Project Inquiries
Submitting an inquiry does not create a project agreement. A project begins only after the project scope, price, timeline, payment terms, and starting requirements are agreed in writing.
Quotes and Starting Prices
Prices shown on the website are starting prices for small, clearly defined projects.
Final pricing depends on scope, number of pages or screens, backend functionality, database requirements, integrations, deployment needs, platform support, urgency, and support requirements.
Sri Lankan clients may request LKR quotations after discussing the project scope.
Scope Approval
Before development begins, I prepare a written scope, feature list, screen outline, UI direction, or proposal depending on the project.
Development starts only after the client approves the scope and the agreed advance payment is received.
Payments
Payment terms are agreed before work begins.
For most projects, payment is handled as:
- advance payment before development starts;
- final payment before final deployment, source code transfer, or full handover.
Larger projects may be split into milestones.
Revisions and Changes
Agreed revisions within the approved project scope are included.
The following may require additional cost and extra time:
- new features;
- new pages or screens;
- major design changes;
- changed workflows;
- backend changes;
- third-party integrations;
- changes requested after scope approval;
- work not included in the original proposal.
Fixed-price projects require fixed scope.
Client Responsibilities
The client is responsible for providing required content, images, business details, account access, feedback, approvals, and third-party service information on time.
Project timelines may change if required client materials, access, approvals, or feedback are delayed.
External Costs
Development pricing does not include external costs unless clearly stated in the proposal.
External costs may include:
- domain names;
- hosting;
- email services;
- SMS services;
- payment gateway fees;
- third-party APIs;
- app store fees;
- premium fonts, icons, images, or assets;
- third-party software subscriptions.
Source Code and Ownership
Source code, project files, deployment details, and handover materials are transferred after final payment, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Until final payment is received, project files, source code, and deployment ownership remain under my control.
Handover
Depending on the project, handover may include:
- source code repository or source archive;
- setup instructions;
- development and build commands;
- deployment notes;
- environment variable list;
- database notes;
- hosting and domain notes;
- admin account instructions;
- third-party service list;
- known limitations;
- support period end date.
Post-Launch Support
30 days of post-launch bug-fix support is included for issues related to the agreed project scope.
Included bug support does not cover:
- new features;
- new screens;
- design changes;
- content updates beyond the agreed scope;
- third-party service outages;
- hosting provider issues;
- payment gateway, email, SMS, or API provider issues;
- issues caused by client-side modifications;
- changes made by another developer;
- long-term maintenance.
Long-Term Maintenance
Long-term maintenance is not included by default.
If short transition support is needed after launch, it must be discussed before handover.
Existing Projects
For existing websites, apps, or codebases, I may need to review the project before accepting work. I may decline projects where the codebase, access, security, documentation, or scope is unsuitable.
No Guarantee of Results
I aim to build reliable, practical, and maintainable software according to the agreed scope.
However, I do not guarantee specific business results such as sales, traffic, search ranking, conversion rate, app store approval, or revenue unless explicitly agreed in writing.
